Tri-County CERT is a group of citizen volunteers that help train other citizens to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members could give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.

Tri-County CERT works closely with Douglas and Sarpy County Emergency Management to organize and respond to emergencies as they arise.  The Nebraska counties of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington are our primary service area. Assistance can be provided outside of the service area by request.

Our Mission

  • Ease stress on the emergency response system and enhance welfare of the community by assisting emergency managers in meeting identified needs during times of emergency and natural disaster.  Doing so will model the principle of neighbors helping neighbors; strengthen the knowledge, skills and abilities of team members and potentially save lives and property.

  • Provide the public the skills to be self-sufficient in an emergency and foster ownership of emergency preparedness among neighbors and in the community.

  • Provide team members opportunities to grow their knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Create opportunities for fellowship among members in ways that build cohesiveness and attract and retain new members.
